Just some images of work....
The still life obsession with striped teacloths began in 2019 and developed over the lockdowns. Many of my own ceramics now creep into these pieces. The ones shown here are mostly in oil or acrylic.
The life drawing was mostly done with the lovely Keith Symonds at Lansdown Art and Science Centre in Stroud where he runs a delightul twice weekly class. Portraits are most often worked in acrylics and are life size.
I re-engaged with ceramics after full retirement from education; throwing is a new endeavour as there was no time to do this while teaching. I just love it! There's a rhythm I enjoy in the preparation, making, trimming, firing, glazing that gives me energy, motivation and creative purpose.
You'll see some sketchbook studies and explorations - got to love a sketchbook - although I don't have the same discipline now as I did when preparing examples for students! I respond to the investigation and contemplation of drawing from life... and relish the ripples it engenders in my creative process. I return to this whenever I seek a new direction.
Some photographs are here too - studies mostly - I use photography for research very frequently.
The printmaking is from my book 'Palimpsest' - a collection of written poetic fragmants coupled with collagraphs, photographs and mixed media pieces.
Anyway, just a selection...
